Like so many of you, I’m disgusted and enraged by the movement to overturn Roe vs. Wade. Watching from afar this week in France as people questioned how we could possible take a fifty year leap backwards for women’s rights, was mind blowing. This ruling is dangerous. You didn’t ban abortion, you banned access to SAFE abortion for ALL. This ruling will fall hardest on women of color and women and families struggling to make ends meet. This ruling also teaches young people that girls’ voices don’t matter — and that their bodies are not theirs. Having a baby is an emotional, personal, often traumatic experience — one that women should choose to be apart of, for their own sake, for their family’s sake, and for the sake of that child. Do not let them fool you, this is NOT and has never been about preserving “life” - this is about control.
I could go on about how, in America, guns have more rights than girls do… or how this country does not provide healthcare or childcare for all once you’ve forced a pregnancy… but I’d be screaming into a void. You all know this. While my anger and fear for our country is evident, the fight isn’t over. And we’re not going to accept this quietly. Ladies, keep your heads up and keep working very hard to support each other in every way possible. And to the men who have stayed eerily quiet over the last few days: you better speak up on behalf of your daughters, on behalf of the women you love, and on behalf the women you bought Plan B for in college. This affects us all.
Adding some great resources here, but more to come. Love you ❤️🩹 (Photos: 1973 vs 2022)
