I had the honor and privilege of following @mcclurerob & his amazing team of dressers around through his entire show of @doubtfirebway before their closing. I have always been in awe of what this man does on stage but now even more so of what he and his incredible team do backstage. They go through 31 VERY fast quick changes every single show! It is masterful and mind blowing. Not to mention the rest of the cast and crew who make that magical machine move every night. Most people don’t understand what it takes to put on a Broadway show and to put one on during a pandemic is even more of a feat. From stagehands and electricians to hair and wardrobe to child wranglers and stage management to the ensemble and leading cast members, the list goes on and on, this piece of theatre and the 34 other Broadway shows and countless off- Broadway and off off Broadway shows that are currently running is a monumental undertaking. It’s blood, sweat and tears, it’s broken bones and stiff muscles, it’s countless COVID testing, it’s wearing masks running up and down endless flights of stairs, it’s time away from family, it’s hours of preparation to get every move right so everyone is safe and secure. Watching all of these people work together for 2 hours and 35 mins to bring a theatre full of people a little joy was emotional and overwhelming because that is exactly why they do it. They do it to bring art and love and joy and hope and laughter to an audience of humans that need it and crave it to make it through this insane and scary place we live. And look not every show can be everything to all people and unfortunately not every show goes the distance despite all the work put into it and sadly tomorrow this family says goodbye to each other. So I just hope everyone can respect and appreciate that at the end of the day these people spend their lives devoted to telling stories and ultimately bringing joy. #bts#backstage#broadwayphotog#mrsdoubtfiremusical#TeamEffie
