Wine Pairing: Rosé – Chateau d’Esclans 2020 Rock Angel Rosé
COVID Headline: COVID cases are surging again – here’s what to expect this summer, experts say (CNBC)
Early summer ‘22 & COVID cases are surging again. 4 sub variants circulating throughout the USA with 7-day average of daily new cases ballooning to 100,000. More than 3x higher than a year ago. Experts hope to see the numbers hit a low in July & August in time for us all to take vacations! This virus has been unpredictable so don’t hold your breath. What is predictable, is if I am anywhere near a body of water after May 1st, I am also holding a glass of wine in my hand. So, let me suggest a rock star pairing for this story that is just heavenly!
Overlooking Miami Beach from a hotel room in May, had a chance to explore a new Rosé. I was immediately enamored with this wine. Big word eh! Been practicing on wordle (my results may make some think I am the Word-Sommelier). This wine hails from Chateau d’Esclans – situated in the heart of Provence, France with the coast in the faint distance. Simply an outstanding Rosé. Turns out this is not accidental. Sacha Lichine – the founder – acquired the Chateau in 2006 with the goal of creating the greatest in the world igniting the Rosé Renaissance. They now have a portfolio of world-class Rosés including this one, you may also have heard about @TheWhisperingAngel and Les Clans & Garrus. So much wine to try, so little time!!!
This dry, acidic Rosé is sophisticated with an elegant structure. On the nose, red current, strawberry, pink grapefruit & a peach medley. A cocktail of stone fruits, citrus, vanilla spice & hints of honey on the palate which they refer to as Rich and Racy. A Rosé so good you should run a bath so that there’s a body of water to drink near!
Thought of the day – Give yourself permission to rewrite your rules.
