Being queer in summer is quite scary. In the winter, we all dress to cloak ourselves and be warm on the day to day. Summer, the layers are peeled off and thus some of our defenses peeled back. Summer is different. We are so exposed. Our bodies more on display and should we choose to hide them, that goes noticed too. If you are a family member, friend, partner or anything of the sort to a person who is visibly queer, gender variant or trans, please take this information into account when you are arranging to meet said person. There’s a whole lot more that goes into coming out of the house than you know and the experience can be exhausting. Be an ally.
