Everything Virgil Abloh did—from his work with @off____white and @louisvuitton to his forays into art, music, film, and design—seemed irrepressibly democratic and forward-moving. It’s a concept central to the new Brooklyn Museum edition of “Virgil Abloh: ‘Figures of Speech,’” a touring exhibition that celebrates the work of the creator.
Ahead of the exhibit’s July 1 opening, 16 of Abloh’s friends and creative compatriots discuss what it was like to make and do alongside the man they called “V”—and how they plan to keep it all going. “Virgil was an incredible mind and the kindest person in the world,” says Off-White art director @ibkamara. “He ran so that some of us could walk.”
