You know, sometimes you gotta clip “split ends” to see some growth.
Over the past month, I’ve deleted 3,000 or so inactive Instagram followers from my account. It felt really freeing to do that! I’m not done!
As I spent time deleting inactive followers, I realized that I have been on Instagram for 12 years.
12. YEARS. Wow.
12 years ago, I was in my late 20s. I was a mother to a little baby boy. I was working by day as an in-house graphic designer for a corporation, and by night I was a freelance graphic designer. 12 years ago, I would come home from work and draw my company logo over and over on paper as I envisioned opening @cheerscreative and working for myself. 12 years ago, I was three years fresh out of college and teaching myself web design.
Today, I’m an award-winning entrepreneur. I’m a sought after branding and website consultant. I’m a creative who has figured out how to take her design skills and sell the strategy 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 the skills, which has allowed me to scale my business exponentially.
Today, I have clients who have trusted me to provide brand strategy for them, and they’ve gotten 5-figure brand partnership deals, high paying clients, speaking engagements, countless TV and media appearances, and more.
Today, I have my son who’s entering adulthood, my husband, and twin girls. I am exactly the person who I needed to see 12 years ago. I needed to see a Black family woman could be successful running an online business.
This black woman with a family, who was drawing her company logo on a napkin 12 years ago, has traveled all over the country to speak and has been in over 60 press and media publications.
As I removed inactive followers, all of a sudden I got an influx of followers who are creatives, designers, and illustrators. I know the questions they want to ask me about scaling a design business. I’m ready to answer them.
What way do you need to free yourself right now? What do you need to delete or cut back on? What do you need to let go of so that you can experience some growth?
