Special Races in Special Places - Part 4 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Location: Fort Collins, Colorado Date: September, 10 2022 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Event: Black Squirrel Half Marathon ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Significance: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ * This race was held in Lory State Park, where we took maternity photos for our sweet rainbow baby in 2019. * This race was one full of processing the hard & heavy of my work, as I ran with my dear friend & colleague Alex. * This race was on Joey and I’s six-year wedding anniversary! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Training for this race was as hard as the course presented on race day. The last month held a lot of challenges, many of which that interfered with training (running). Alex and I assumed confidence though, and tackled the course as a pair. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The weather was an added layer of challenge we had to prep for last minute, as cold (40-50 degree weather) and wet crept in. The trails were muddy, which made things fun. We finished though, which was our goal. I am so thankful for Alex and her encouragement on the course.
