Playing soldiers is a more serious game for Ukrainian boys Andrii, aged 12 and his friend Valentyn 6, than when I played ‘armies’ as boy. Having built their own checkpoint and dug fortifications around their home they can see quite clearly the reality of war with the devastation surrounding them with destroyed bridges and building within sight. I hope they grow up never having to serve in a real war….
