👼 Time to dance like a purple angel! It’s the final day of #MuseumWeek and what better way to end than with a #DanceMW… This log box was decorated by artist Duncan Grant shortly after he moved here in 1916. Even small, utilitarian objects didn’t escape his paintbrush at Charleston! 🩰 This humble log box was painted with dancers and musicians when Duncan was obsessed with the influential, world-famous dance company, The Ballet Russes. Their daring energy and experimentation is echoed here in these playful designs. The log box has remained next to the fireplace in the garden room, ever since Duncan painted it over 100 years ago.
